Built as an integrated assembly, the GDS combines the main gas pathways, sensors, and control elements into a single module. It includes the oxygen solenoid valve, air and oxygen flow sensors, pressure transducers, the internal blower, the manifold, and the associated control boards. Together, these components receive commands from the ventilator's main processor and precisely control the gas mixture delivered to the patient.

GDS takes in ambient air (drawn through an inlet filter by the internal blower) and high-pressure medical oxygen, then mixes them to the concentration set by the clinician.
